What a year 2023 is shaping up to be! It’s been a busy first half for us here at The Bubble Co, including celebrating some impressive achievements, which were made possible by our commitment to working with a ‘whatever it takes’ mindset.
First up, we made the Smart Company Smart50 Workplaces 2023 list for our leading approach to people and culture. Our digital marketing agency was established as a fully remote and flexible business years prior to the pandemic, so when it came to moving to all-remote working – well, we had it nailed. Our team members work remotely and choose the hours and days that suits them while delivering on time, to budget and to a high standard.
When first establishing The Bubble Co, Renee Francis knew that the traditional business model of a corporate office in the city with inflexible hours suited only a small percentage of people. She also knew that to attract the best talent she needed to provide flexibility while still encouraging a one-team mentality.
With a team that spans Australia and New Zealand, Renee ensures a collegiate attitude by planning regular virtual and in-person catchups, whole team training sessions with external providers, and fun team challenges. She also champions open communication and constructive feedback.
“Working in different time zones and in different ways isn’t a problem when people adopt a flexible attitude,” Renee says.
“Working remotely and flexibly encourages self-discipline and self-motivation. When you don’t have to do something in a certain and expected way where you’re being observed, you have self-discipline – that’s real discipline.
“The Bubble Co is all about flexibility.”
Renee’s visionary approach to creating flexible, modern workplaces will see her speak on a panel about building thriving workplaces at the upcoming Commonwealth Bank Small Biz Week.
“Work-life balance, employee retention and increased job satisfaction are just some of the reasons that make flexible workplaces the way of the future,” says Renee.
These very company characteristics also saw us recognised as finalists in the recent 2023 Australian Small Business Champion Awards, which recognises and celebrates the hard work and commitment made by everyone in small business.
Although we didn’t take home the award in our digital marketing category, we felt like winners just by being nominated. With 4,500 entrants for his year’s event, making it to the finalist round was a major achievement itself.
“Team culture is a core value at the Bubble Co – we know that we’re stronger when we work together, and we help each other do their best work,” says Renee.
“We’re going to keep growing and building together.”
With these impressive accolades in the first few months of 2023, we honestly can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring.
